I’m a speech language pathologist and I was struck with Kip’s trauma and behavior. I would call his situation selective mutism. A trauma can cause a child to shut down with speaking.

I loved the tenseness between the parents and how they’re “parented”. I won’t go into how I think the dads were careless!

Jan, I totally agree that Kip's storyline was so gripping. As an adoptive mother, Hannah Richell had me on the edge of my seat wondering where she would take it. I feel like she handled it so well.

All in all, whether I liked the characters or not I feel like she did a great job nailing down the parenting types.
